"VPN client for iOS, MacOS, Windows"

Overview

This nifty little app is the cloak of invisibility in the cyber world, allowing you to surf anonymously and carefree with just a single click. Faceless Internet Connection will hide your IP address and assign you a new one. That means that you can bypass country restrictions as well as fool anyone trying to trace you.

Installation

After running the installer and proceeding a bit, you will be asked if you want to make a Full or Custom installation. Basically, those options are not for the product itself, but for the Faceless Community Toolbar it wants to install. Choosing Full installation will install the toolbar, add Faceless to Windows Firewall Exception, set Faceless customized web search as the default search and homepage as well as send you news and useful info from the toolbar. To opt-out from installing the toolbar, just pick Custom installation and uncheck it. A couple of steps afterwards the main installation will begin.

This program can be used by Windows and Mac OS X users. There is also an app for iPod touch, iPad and iPhone users. We'll focus on the PC version in this review.

Interface

When you launch the program, a small window will open with a few buttons and options.

On the upper left corner is the program’s logo, and next to it are two types of boxes; one with your real IP address and ISP location, and one with your new IP address and ISP location.

At the bottom of the window you can see the connection and account status. The button on the bottom right corner will open the log window.

Pros

It is really easy to change your IP. Just click “Connect”, or set the program to connect automatically at startup. You will be assigned a new IP address and your real one will be hidden until you disconnect.

There is a tool in the program that measures incoming and outgoing traffic, separating the current day’s traffic with all the traffic so far.

A log is kept while the program is being used so that you can see technical details and send it to the support team in case you have trouble connecting.

Faceless Internet Connection is available in the following languages: Russian, English, Spanish, Arabic, French, Portuguese and Turkish.

Something else that was mentioned above but should be noted here too, is that it is available for iPod touch, iPhone and iPad users as well. The app for those devices will be very useful to people who connect often to various public networks.

Cons

A con in this program is that its trial version (which lasts for a month) has a bandwidth limit of 1GB total. But in essence this is more than enough to test out the program and decide whether to buy it or not.

But a more important issue is that while testing it we did experience a few hiccups and slow-downs in our connection. Sometimes it would be just a pain in the back to get it working properly. In addition, we couldn’t select the country we want to connect to, but it would connect by itself randomly.

Alternatives

PureVPN (paid) is an excellent software in this category. It has several features, fast speeds and customer support ready to help you anytime. Another substitute is Ivacy (paid), which gives you the ability to choose the country you want to appear you are connected to,  VPN Connection type (PPTP, HTTP Tunnel, etc.) and whether you want to protect all traffic from your computer or just traffic from individual applications.

Conclusion

This simple software will give you the chance to experience anonymous internet surfing without having to make loads of settings, but it is recommended only to those who are looking for something that does an average job and is not too complicated. An alternative is recommended in any other case.
