"Display directory contents as 18 reports"

Overview

Total Directory Report is directory utility that can help confirm the various directories (sometimes called folders) and files located on local hard drives, network drives, and even FTP servers.

The software can search all accessible servers and systems on the corporate network to locate the entire corporate file structure. Total Directory Report can then create its own reporting, in up to 18 types, which will contain lists of folders and files. These reports can be accessed in CSV format for Excel, HTML for web browser viewable reporting, or Adobe PDF files for ultimate portability.

The reports can be edited, viewed, saved and printed out when they are needed. Fresh reports can be generated at any time they are required. Drive and directory indices may be updated in real-time, depending on the partition type, but the software will update its records regularly to ensure that the reports are the latest data on the various drives.

There are useful system browser functions that are built into the application. This makes it easier to scan through file lists and reports, view files and scan through directories without needing to jump between the application and Windows Explorer which could soon become a pain to do.

Installation

The installation was completed without any difficulty at all. The software didn't contain any malware, spyware, toolbars or other nasty addition.

Total Directory Report requires Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8 (32-bit or 64-bit)

Interface

The interface creates some popular directories within Windows and also lists the located hard drives. These are shown on the left side of the main window. The main screen explains that a folder needs to be selected and then scanned by access the File menu option, then Create Report.

A report can also be quickly generated by dragging a directory from Windows Explorer over to the large folder icon in the bottom-right of the application window.

The interface is nicely done, not overwhelming at all and quite usable.
