Google Chrome has been updated by the search company to version 39 in the Windows version. The main difference is that a new implementation of Flash has been put into Chrome as of January 13.

Google continue to progress through Stable, Beta and Dev versions of the popular Chrome browser. Development for Windows and Mac versions is ongoing but the Linux one seems to have stalled presently and will not be receiving the new Flash version. There is no new Flash version expected for Linux which is in a holding pattern and is likely to stay that way.

Flash is up to version 16.0.0.257 with Windows and Mac OS X but remains at 11.2.202.429 with Linux installations.

A few other changes have been made to the latest version of Chrome including the usual bug fixes. There are still rendering bugs to be worked out with problems with correctly scaling background elements, but this may be resolved in version 40. Some people had been eagerly awaiting the Chrome 40 version as the release schedule was a little behind the 42 day release cycle at this point but they'll have to wait a little longer. Those people who really cannot wait could always try the latest Beta version
