AyEyePad is a Notepad replacement for Windows 2000, 2003, and XP that aims for a fusion of simplicity and versatility. It supports tabbed documents, text-to-speech, document encryption, Unicode, UNIX text file formats, and much more. It is actively updated and open source, under the GPL 3.0 license. The .ayp file format uses a secure RC4 encryption method with its files, and allows for a custom password to be used to ensure total security. It is considered by many to be the most secure and simplistic Notepad replacement available, and is ready for download at less than 1 MB in size.
