"Keep device drivers up-to-date"
If you have a lot of software installed in your computer, it’s reasonable for them to become outdated and malfunction due to compatibility issues with other software or system changes. But it’s not easy to always keep an eye for releases of updated versions as well, so Perfect Updater scans the system for every program installed, searches a huge database online for newer versions of them and installs them automatically. If updated versions do exist, they can be downloaded and installed with a single click. No 3rd party tools are included in every update you download, hence it is safe to use.
The setup finishes in only two steps, and it’s so fast that you will hardly get to see the progress bar. As soon as it completes, the program will automatically open and run a scan for drivers that are out of date. Nothing suspicious is installed with the main application. Supported operating systems are Windows XP, Vista and, recently, support for Windows 7 has been added.
It has a futuristic look with a vivid interface, and everything is so organized that you can’t possibly confuse any of the functions. The features are split in 5 different tabs: Status, Driver Scan, Backup, Restore and Settings. On top there is a little flag icon from where you are supposed to change the program’s language (which you can also do from the settings window), but it’s pretty pointless since there are no other languages available apart from English. Future version might include other languages as well. Finally, at the bottom there is a Submit Feedback link which opens a form that you can complete if you want to make a complaint, ask for help or just send general feedback about the software.
After every performed scan, a summary of all the outdated drivers are displayed in an orderly manner and you can click to view more information about each one, ignore it or update it. Before updating anything, the program makes a backup of the existing drivers so that even if the new ones create compatibility issues, you can revert back to the working state of the software you tried to update. All kinds of drivers are supported: drivers for disk drives, display adapters, DVD/CD-ROMS drives, monitors, network adapters, system devices and many others.
In addition, you can exclude certain software from appearing on the scan results, if for example new drivers for them are unwanted or create issues. Moreover, you have the ability to schedule periodical scans to be executed automatically.
The unregistered version is really limited, and in essence it does nothing since it doesn’t allow updating of the obsolete drivers that are found. At least you can view the available updates so you know that you have old drivers.
From Raxco, the author of PerfectUpdater: "The unregistered version of PerfectUpdater actually provides you with a list of outdated drivers, their latest available updates, and their manufacturers, so this actually provides a benefit since the user can go and manually find those drivers if they choose not to purchase the product. Of course, this is time-consuming and that is why you can purchase PerfectUpdater to update all available OEM updates."
There are many alternatives that offer automatic update of drivers, but a lot of them are actually scams, so you’d better be careful when choosing one. Device Doctor and Uniblue DriverScanner are two similar working programs, although Device Doctor lacks a backup and restore feature, but has a portable edition.
Perfect Updater seems to be a program beyond compare. With it you can keep all your drivers up-to-date without going through the process of checking yourself if there’s a new version available for each one of them. The 30 day money-back guarantee is one more reason to get this software now.
