"Windows 8 installer customizer"
WinReducer is a customization package to change the way that Windows looks and feels. The package is available for different Windows operating systems. There is a custom package for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
Using the Windows 8.1 package as an example, the standard cursors, the themes, and the wallpapers that will display inside Windows 8.1 can all be modified. Updates, applications, drivers, the .NET Framework and unattended files are all modified in appearance to change the look so it conforms to the overall WinReducer style.
The graphical user interface is changed by using the WinReducer GUI theme rather than the standard Windows one. Windows components can be reduced or adapted to change how the GUI will look in the end (entirely overhauled or a blend of Windows 8.1 and WinReducer elements).
There is ISO support for many different versions of Windows. There are 850 combinations to customize the appearance, integrate with the existing Windows 8.1 look, or mix and match different aspects to create a completely unique final look.
Metro UI apps, Microsoft Office, VMware and VirtualBox are also supported with component presets to handle these applications specifically so their look can be customized too.
The installation of the software depends on what package is installed. The user is responsible for picking the correct WinReducer package for their version of Windows.
The installation goes smoothly. Quite often the user will be prompted to download several other packages like 7zip if these are not already installed. The software will make use of these third party applications depending on what task it is performing.
No malware or toolbars were added with the software installation.
The interface is a little off-putting at first as it is not simple at all. Really, experienced users should be using this tool rather than people just starting out with their version of Windows.
The package can create a Windows installation boot disc. This can be done by either pointing to the Windows installation files or Windows ISO files stored on a partition on the hard drive. Alternatively, the Windows files from the installation disc can copied to the hard drive and then accessed in this way. The software can then create a bootable installation disc for you. Add customizations like a wallpaper customization, add the Windows updates already installed so they do not need to downloaded again, and other neat things.
