RAMExpert is a useful Windows application that can carefully examine the installed RAM memory in each memory slot and provide detailed information about it.
The total memory capacity of the computer is confirmed, how many memory slots are present, and whether both slots are presently taken up by memory chips. There is a real-time update in graphical and numerical form on the memory used versus total capacity.
For each installed memory chip in a given memory slot, the software will scan and lay out all the relevant information. This includes the memory size, manufacturer, model, type, and serial number. A linked PDF document is also presented with more information about the memory from the manufacturer.
The software is useful for people who do not want to open up their PC to check what memory slots are free or what memory they have. It is useful to match the manufacturer, model and type of memory to avoid memory chip conflicts, so this utility can be handy to confirm what is already installed without needing to open up the PC to find out.
The installation package requires 2.5 MB of available space to install. The installation completed without incident.
There were no malicious software included in the setup package.
RAMExpert requires Windows OS.
RamExpert starts with a promotion at the top for their Drivers Update product on the right side which is a push button that takes the user to their Drivers Update product page if they wish to do so.
There is a minimal menu system which only has options for Quit, Open log file and About.
General system information is displayed which includes how many memory slots are available within the computer and details about them.
The physical memory is also shown along with information on what is being used currently and the total installed amount. An updating green chart shows the level of memory usage in real-time.
Each memory slot is then given its own section with a detailed breakdown about each memory chip installed complete with manufacturer, capacity, slot name, model, type and serial number. There is also a link to a PDF document for each product.
- See what memory is installed
- See what memory is available currently
- View details information about each RAM memory chip installed without needing to remove it to check the model number
- View make, model number, serial number, type and capacity
- PDF provided with manufacturer's specification
- Optional upgrade capability based on empty memory slots and stated full capacity of the PC
- Real-time memory usage indication
- No memory testing which would have been useful too.
Memtest86+ is a DOS-based RAM testing package which goes a step beyond just supplying memory information and verifies the currently installed RAM.
RAMExpert is a good tool for determining what memory capacity a PC has and what memory is currently installed. The exact manufacturer, make and model of all installed memory can be seen which makes it easier to buy additional RAM to match what is already installed.
