"Visual file manager for Linux"
Midnight Commander is a capable file manager with an old fashioned look. This is because it runs in its own independent subshell in order to gain greater access to the underlying file system where needed. You can view, edit, copy, rename or delete files or folders. You can make new directories too. These options are all available from the controls at the foot of the screen or using the labeled control keys. There is also a more extensive menu of further controls available within the application. There is a useful internal viewer within Midnight Commander to see inside files. Additionally, there is an file editor too.
Midnight Commander Key Features:
- File manager which uses a subshell setup
- Create, edit, copy, rename or delete files or folders.
- Internal viewer included in the application
- File editor included
Midnight Commander is an unusual file manager which lets you access files and folders. It also comes with an editor and viewer, so you can examine files more closely before deciding what to do with them.
