"SuperEasy 1-Click Backup"

Overview

SuperEasy 1-Click Backup is a fairly basic backup package to use on a computer. It allows the user to select the drives that should be included in the backup. Individual folders cannot be selected for backup; only drives. Then the folder to deliver the backup into is then selected. This can be a hard drive and another option which allows for the selection of different media as a backup location. Backups are compressed in order to reduce the overall size of the backup.

The software includes some automated backups but lacks ultimate flexibility with the options given. Similarly, it does not offer the latest security features but it does include backup compression to keep the backup file size down.

Installation

The installation proceeds without a problem. It is not particularly fast though. There is a useful button that when clicked displays the system requirements for the software which are detailed below. No adware, toolbar or other extra was added to the installation package.

The installation requires 125 MB of available disk space and 512 MB of RAM to run. Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 or Windows Server 2003 or 2008 are required (32-bit and 64-bit supported).

Interface

An offer to buy the full version immediately appears. There is a nag screen that the software runs for only 30 days in the trial version.

Once the initial nag screens have been clicked off, the interface turns out to be minimal. A handful of menu options with few choices; most of the features are displayed in the main window.

On the left side of the window is the option to backup files from certain drives, to a certain folder elsewhere. The frequency of the backup option can then be selected (this can be a daily or weekly backup, or non-repeating). The number of older backups to keep is then shown which defaults to 27. Information on when the last backup was taken and the status of any current backup is shown at the bottom of the window.

To the right of the window is a large, yellow "Activate Plan" button, and two smaller Browser and Restore buttons.

Pros

  • Backup software to backup whole drives
  • Create a backup plan that the software can follow thereafter
  • Automated backups in the background
  • Scheduled daily or weekly backups
  • Backups are compressed to save space
  • Before backups start, a rescue CD is suggested for creation
  • 1-click backups once a backup plan has been setup
  • 30 day trial versions
  • Paid version available

Cons

  • Can only backup whole drives, not specific folders or files
  • Automated backups cannot backup on specific days of the week, a weekend, bi-weekly or quarterly or less often.

Alternatives

You can try EaseUS Todo Backup Free, FBackup,  or if you want even more advanced options, go with Acronis True Image.

Conclusion

SuperEasy 1-Click Backup lives up to its name of being easy to create backups, however in so doing it leaves out a great deal of customization possibilities.
