Auto Backup 5.3 Publisher's description
This low CPU usage program runs quietly in the background and will automatically backup your USB flash drives when plugged into your computer or laptop.
The program starts up with your computer and monitors which USB devices are plugged in. The program keeps an individual backup for each USB device, and can be configured to keep more than one backup of a device so that you can return to a previous file state should the original become corrupt.
You are able to stop and restart backups quickly with the system tray icon, allowing you to prevent backing up of a device if you donot require a backup. The icon in the system tray changes depending on the state of the program, this makes it easy to identify whether a backup is taking place.
The program keeps backups in groups of day (e.g. 5 days will make a backup for the period of the 10th to the 14th), you can now specify the length of these groups, allowing you to control your backups more effectively.
You can select how many of the groups (backup copies) you wish to keep on your computer, the program will automatically remove the oldest of the backups if you have more copies than you have specified.
You now have more control over your backups, the options page allows you to quickly change the backup directory and the number of backup copies you wish to keep. It also allows you to specify which drives you always want to backup, those you never want to backup, and those that you should be asked about.

It is very important to have a number of backups so that you can easily return to a previous file state. Auto Backup takes the hassle of organising these backups away by logically naming each backup, and automatically removing out of date versions.

Not every USB device that you connect to your PC needs to be backed up. The prompt box allows you to quickly decide whether you wish to make a backup or not, ensuring that Auto Backup runs as effectively as possible
Automatic detection
USB devices are automatically detected, this ensures that setting up Auto Backup is quick and hassle free. The new prompt box allows you to configure each new device with a single mouse click.
Quickly pause and restart backups
The system tray icon allows you to quickly start and stop backups, this gives you enhanced control of your backups.
Runs quietly in the background
Auto Backup is set to a low priority, this ensures that it will not hog your systems resources when other programs are running. This enables it to run unnoticed in the background.
Multi Threaded
Auto Backup makes use of multi threading, this allows single and dual core processors (such as Intels new Core 2 Duo) to run Auto Backup efficiently.
Delayed Backup
Auto Backup has an inbuilt delay, this ensures that your computer can still load quickly.
Quickly open backup directory
Auto Backup has a quick link to your selected backup directory. This allows you to open your backups quickly without having to navigate through Windows Explorer
Make backups of any file on your PC
Auto Backup incorporates a standard backup feature, this allows you to right click on any file or folder and make a backup instantly.
