Data theft is becoming more common. Sensitive data loses happen due to thefts of laptops, hard drives and computers. To avoid security breaches that occur due to laptop or drive theft, you have to protect confidential files and folders against unauthorized access. You can encrypt the entire drive by Windows means or set a password on particular folders of your choice.
Unfortunately, if you use full disk encryption, your data has no protection once you enter your password and log in. In addition, disk encryption cannot protect you in case of a misconfigured file sharing when you accidentally share more than you meant.
You can use Folder Protect to safeguard your confidential folders. It protects only the folders you specify and does not encrypt all the drive. Folder Protect has an easy-to-use wizard-style interface. When you open the program, it guides you through each step. Even novice computer users do not need any training to start protecting folders with Folder Protect.
As opposed to similar open source solutions maintained by programmers in their spare time, Folder Protect is a full-featured commercially supported program. That is the program is not free (though moderately priced at $39.95 a license), but it is regularly updated and seriously tested before released to public. While most companies nowadays charge for customer support and outsource it to India and other countries, Folder Protect comes with free support for all users including those who use the free trial version. Folder Protect runs on Windows Vista, XP, NT, 98 and ME. Protected folders retain protection even if someone breaks into your PC or plugs your drive into another computer running DOS, Linux or any other operating system.
