Zaxis Technologies, Inc. Unveils Its priZm Solution for the Propagation of Wireless Applications for a Wide Range of Mobile Phones
San Diego, CA March 21, 2004--Zaxis Technologies, Inc., a developer of porting solutions for wireless applications for mobile phones, today unveiled priZm, the technology solution that addresses the major challenges of device variation and lack of compatibility which critically impact the growth mobile applications market.
"Applications for mobile devices are continually gaining tremendous acceptance in the global wireless marketplace." said Magda Remillard, CEO and Founder of Zaxis "Widespread device fragmentation, however, is a major obstacle to an efficient wireless development process causing applications to be created on a per handset basis. Using Zaxis priZm solves this problem."
With priZm, a developer creates a single version of an application and submits it to Zaxis Technologies, Inc. for processing. We developed priZm based on the expertise we gained of having completed over 150 mobile handset ports to date. We translated this experience into the specific code changes needed to enable efficient ports to next series of handsets. Additionally, we incorporate submission requirements from the carriers and NSTL test lab that performs the True Brew testing. In other words, since every application has to pass various submission tests, by proactively implementing those requirements we substantially decrease failure rates and further streamline the submission process. Developers do not require previous knowledge about the individual handsets, nor do they need to understand all of the requirements needed for their applications to pass various submission tests.
With priZm the applications are propagated for each handset by generating a separate version of the application customized to meet specific device features and functionalities such as the handsets firmware idiosyncrasies, memory and processing power, screen size and resolution, key mapping, sound processing, and network capabilities.
Mobile publishers and developers benefit from priZm by increasing the revenues generated by each application. Single application is concurrently deployed to many handsets multiplying the number of subscribers having access to that application. priZms improvement in scalability enables constant access the rapidly expanding subscriber base.
Mobile carriers benefit from priZm by increasing their ARPU (Average Revenue Per Unit - average monthly revenue generated for each customer unit). priZm enables faster introduction of more mobile applications for more handsets increasing new device purchase rate and network use.
The priZm solution consists of the following components and processes:
Portability Assessment: A submitted reference application is analyzed for a wide range of portability issues related to device attributes.
Code Instrumentation: The application code is instrumented with our proprietary technique in such a way that executables can be generated for multiple mobile platform targets (handsets).
Generation: Multiple executables are generated, customized, localized and validated to support the characteristics of each target device.
Handset Updates: As new handsets are introduced, their attributes data is added to the priZm device library.
The priZm solution is based on the proprietary intellectual property created by Zaxis Technologies, Inc. through its extensive expertise and experience in porting mobile applications across multiple handsets.
