With Comodo, New York Lottery Wins
Jersey City, NJ, April 16, 2009 - The New York State Lottery has decided to secure its online transactions with SSL certificates from Comodo CA.
Comodo is the second-largest issuer of high-assurance digital certificates, providing them for entities such as Xerox, IBM and HP.
Digital certificates enable organizations, such as the New York State Lottery, to encrypt the information transmitted over the Internet. With a digital certificate, the computer storing and sending information can use an algorithm to scramble the message so that only the intended recipient can read it.
As more business operations, such as invoicing, purchasing, and shipping notices, take place online, businesses rely on encryption and Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to keep their online communications confidential.
The New York Lottery contributed nearly $2.6 billion in fiscal year 2007-08 to help support education in New York State. This is over 13 percent of the total state education funding to local school districts. The New York Lottery continues to be North America’s largest and most profitable Lottery, earning over $34.2 billion in education support statewide since its founding over 40 years ago.
