WiFlyer Wireless WiFi Connectivity and SlipStream Dial-Up Acceleration Enable New Approach to Web Access

Always On Wireless’ new portable WiFi base station, the WiFlyer, has now combined the convenience of wireless Internet access with a dramatic improvement in dial-up speed provided by SlipStream Data’s leading web acceleration technology. HOUSTON, TX April 12, 2004 -- Always On Wireless’ new portable WiFi base station, the WiFlyer, has now combined the convenience of wireless Internet access with a dramatic improvement in dial-up speed provided by SlipStream Data’s leading web acceleration technology. Demonstrations of the WiFlyer working over a dial-up connection using SlipStream’s acceleration software will be given this week at ISPCON in Washington D.C., April 14th-16th. This combination of WiFi wireless access together with SlipStream’s leading acceleration technology provides the closest experience yet to broadband for dial-up Internet access subscribers.

AOW’s WiFlyer is the first WiFi base station targeting dial-up as well as broadband users. The WiFlyer’s compact form factor allows for easy portability and its integrated V.92 modem allows ready access over dial-up networks. For ISPs using SlipStream’s dial-up acceleration technology, AOW can embed SlipStream’s Windows and Mac software clients into the WiFlyer for immediate download over the high-speed WiFi link.

The portable WiFlyer connects to either an ordinary phone line or Ethernet to deliver dial-up or broadband wireless Internet access. First production shipments of the WiFlyer are scheduled for July 2004.
