Video Server Revolutionizes On-Demand Education
March 6th, 2003 Information Technology manufacturing pioneer, Axonix Corporation is shipping SuperView, a revolutionary VOD [Video-On-Demand server appliance that the company feels will change the way we learn. SuperView is a follow-up to the companys successful CD/DVD-ROM server, SuperCD. Like SuperCD, SuperView is a server appliance embedded with all the necessary software and hardware to encode, store and share high quality videos over any network.
Users can now view any lecture, training, class, or other content when it is most convenient even from home via the Internet. Like SuperCD, the most revolutionary aspects of SuperView are the price and functionality. Axonix cites no significant competition as other video servers costing more than 4 times SuperViews $3,495 retail price tag require multiple hardware components plus require special software to be loaded on every client computer.
SuperView moves video training and education from the VCR to the computer network. SuperView enables end users to easily store and share hundreds of full-screen, full-motion videos on LAN, WAN or Internet. These videos can be streamed (played) by hundreds of simultaneous users on-demand using only a web browser and media player. SuperView is the size of a VCR and sets up in minutes; it plugs into the Ethernet hub and includes a combo VCR/DVD input deck.
The release of the SuperView is especially newsworthy due to two industry-changing events that took place in 2002, namely the introduction of Microsofts Windows Media video compression technology and the passage of the T.E.A.C.H Act. As a result of these two extraordinary developments and within the conditions of the T.E.A.C.H. Act, students can now for the first time freely share full-screen, full-motion educational videos including For Home Use Only videos.
Simply load VHS videotapes and DVD discs into the SuperView and press record in your web browser. Playback is done using the same browser interface; no software is required. Anyone with a standard Web browser can call-up a video show or lecture that is either recorded or live to watch at anytime - day or night. SuperView can also import previously digitized MPEG, AVI, QuickTime and other video files. Video quality is adjustable for any speed Internet connection viewing.
SuperView delivers compelling full screen, full motion video that enhances productivity and retention with instant stop, rewind, pause and fast-forward. In addition, its video capture and storage capability allows the attachment of a video camera for viewing live presentations or recording surveillance video. SuperView eliminates the need for (1) copies of videos, (2) TV sets and (3) VCR/DVD players; further reducing total cost of ownership. Spending time and money checking-out and tracking videotapes and discs is a thing of the past.
Scott Jones, Technology Director at the Weber County Library in Ogden, Utah stated, SuperView delivers instant access to our in-house library of video tapes, discs, recorded lectures and satellite content. SuperView reduces our satellite downlink costs by sharing the content across our WAN versus deploying expensive satellite installations at all of our buildings.
Axonix Corporation is a private corporation that has been delivering affordable IT solutions since 1983. Axonix pioneered SuperCD, the worlds first hard drive caching, network-attached appliance designed for sharing CD and DVD ROMs. The SuperView server is the companys newest network appliance and is the worlds first integrated video server appliance that records, stores and delivers video content for anywhere, anytime learning.
Like all Axonix products, SuperView is a truly plug and play network appliance that sets up in minutes and allows for easy use and maintenance by non-technical personnel.
