Tune and Optimize Windows with WinSpeedUp

Script Soft has released WinSpeedUp v. 2.62, an application that lets you tune and optimize Windows to suit your computing environment and needs. With access to Windows' hidden system options, programs can start faster, unnecessary files can be deleted from your hard drive, Internet and LAN connections will be faster, and your system will be more stable.

WinSpeedUp detects whether you're using Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000, XP, or Server 2003, and presents you with more than a dozen tabs with hundreds of tweaks and adjustments that you can make. With its emphasis on safety, WinSpeedUp asks you if you want access to the more complicated and more dangerous Windows adjustments. In addition it's easy to take a snapshot of your starting Windows configuration, and restore it if you create a configuration which doesn't meet your needs.

WinSpeedUp's cleanup functions allow you to maintain your privacy by erasing your computing tracks and, in the process, free up some hard drive space. The program empties the recycle bin, deletes cookies, resets the history and documents lists, erases your Internet Explorer cache, deletes temporary files, and gets rid of unnecessary files such as TMP, BAK, and OLD files. In addition, you have one-click access to Windows cleanup utilities such as scandisk, defrag, and config. The RAM Cleanup function frees the physical memory from unnecessary entries with only one click.

There is a WinSpeedUp Wizard that searches your system for opportunities to improve performance through tuning and optimization. For users who need to make their system quicker and more stable, but who don't want to learn the technical details of Windows, the WinSpeedUp Wizard will choose the optimal settings and automatically adjust them.

The program's registry functions make it easy to clean unwanted and unnecessary entries from the Windows registry, making the system faster and more stable. WinSpeedUp's Internet functions let you tweak both the broadband and dial-up connections. The autostart functions let you add and delete files that are loaded automatically at system startup. By eliminating startup leftovers from programs that you have uninstalled, WinSpeedUp increases system efficiency.

WinSpeedUp's System tab gives you a snapshot of how Windows is configured. The program's Windows functions let you animate windows, create smooth fonts, adjust folder settings, hide drives, and tailor the Windows environment to suit each user's tastes. You can adjust cache and virtual RAM, and perform dozens of adjustments that will make your computing more efficient.

Game players will appreciate the DirectX functions, which make it easy to find out which version of DirectX you're using, and how to upgrade to a newer version. DOS functions, such as running scandisk after system crashes, and displaying a warning message before booting in safe mode, can be adjusted. Windows 98 and Me users can even have system programs rewritten in smaller blocks so they'll load more quickly at start-up.

WinSpeedUp comes with a comprehensive help file, with explanations of what each function does, and how it will affect your system's performance.
