Symagery Introduces Version 8.0 Software Development Suite for OEMs in Auto ID and Data Capture Industry

Symagery today announced Version 8.0 of its software development suite for use in conjunction with its image reading systems by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the automatic ID and data capture industry (AIDC). Version 8.0 of Symagery's software development suite allows OEMs to develop and customize information capture products using Symagerys image-based systems. These systems include high-performance image engines and processor boards designed for integration into hand-held or fixed-mount scanners, portable data collection terminals, mobile computers and kiosks.

OTTAWA May 22, 2004 -- Designed for Use with Symagery Image Reading Systems to Provide OEMs With Powerful and Flexible Tools to Customize Image-based Products. Symagery today announced Version 8.0 of its software development suite for use in conjunction with its image reading systems by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the automatic ID and data capture industry (AIDC).

Version 8.0 of Symagery's software development suite allows OEMs to develop and customize information capture products using Symagery's image-based systems. These systems include high-performance image engines and processor boards designed for integration into hand-held or fixed-mount scanners, portable data collection terminals, mobile computers and kiosks.

The new software suite offers OEMs the tools necessary to create and customize their end-user products to meet very specific application requirements. These product offerings are commonly used in the transportation and logistics, manufacturing, postal, gaming and lottery; healthcare and retail industries. Symagery's software development suite contains the libraries and sample applications with the source code required to integrate its systems into customer devices on the Windows CE or Windows CE.NET platforms. The software suite enables a rapid time to market and a low-risk integration path.

A key new feature of Version 8.0 is the ability for users to create their own customized preset modes for viewing images in a specific environment and application. This is important because now users can modify, for example, the exposure, gain and illumination parameters to suit their particular environment. Users can then save these parameters as a "mode" that can be recalled and used at a later date. Symagery will be providing customers with sample modes, common to several applications.

Another key feature of Version 8.0 is the view finder, a small pop-up' window that users can activate to show a regularly refreshed image of whatever is currently being captured. This is beneficial to developers because users can look at the view finder to make sure all the parameters are appropriate for the information that is being captured. If changes are required, developers can adjust parameters in Symagery's Image Reader application and then save them as a defined, preset mode.

Version 8.0 offers our OEM customers the freedom to customize and easily configure our imaging systems through an open architecture development kit, said Ron Caines, president and CEO of Symagery. This gives our OEM customers the ability to turn their imaging system into a powerful, flexible enabling technology platform and offers a competitive edge over standard laser, CCD, VGA-based imagers and other data capture solutions.

Version 8.0 of Symagery's software development kit is available at the end of May 2004.
