Robert Thoelen, III began his business with a challenging goal in mind: to have a flexible work schedule that would allow him to either start a church, or assume a pastorate at a church in the Connecticut area. He decided to do both software development and ministry as a vocation. Many Christian leaders over the centuries have worked in addition to their ministerial duties. For example, Paul, an Apostle in the early Christian church, was a tentmaker by trade.

With his theological education from Boston Baptist College, and six years experience working as a software developer, Thoelen was ready to strike out on his own as a consultant. “It was a difficult decision to leave a job with benefits,” Thoelen says, “but I knew that if I didn’t make this move, I would have to live the rest of my life wondering what could have happened.”
