Software Publisher Hermetic Systems Begins 10th Year of Operation

Hermetic Systems (in business since mid-1997) exists primarily to market the software developed by Peter Meyer (who holds a Master of Philosophy degree in computational physics). So far this software consists of fifteen Windows programs plus a few DOS legacy programs. These programs cover several areas of application, including calendar date conversion, encryption and mathematics.

Calendars supported include well-known ones such as the Gregorian, Julian, Chinese and Maya Calendars, along with less well-known ones, such as the Annus Novus Decimal Calendar and several lunar calendars invented by Peter Meyer: the Liberalia Triday Calendar, the Hermetic Lunar Week Calendar and the Meyer-Palmen Solilunar Calendar (the latter invented in collaboration with Karl Palmen).

There are four items of security software available, three of which are cryptographic applications: Cryptosystem ME6 for multiple file encryption, Easy Email Encryption (unusual in that it also supports encrypted email attachments) and Hermetic Stego (this being primarily a steganographic application for hiding data within BMP graphics files). The fourth security software is Data Destroyer, for secure deletion of files.

The mathematical software is mostly concerned with prime numbers and factorization, and there is software for graphics file conversion and HTML programming (including programs for generation of keywords meta tags which act by scanning the HTML code and extracting the most-used words from which to form the meta tag). A related, and particularly popular, program is Hermetic Word Frequency Counter, which scans text and counts the frequency of occurrences of words.

The software is priced very competitively, ranging from US$15 for the DOS legacy Maya Calendar program to US$39 to the advanced version of the keywords meta tag generator which can act on multiple files in a single operation.

The Hermetic Systems website has also from its inception provided not only software but also many informative articles by Peter Meyer and other writers (including calendar experts Karl Palmen and Simon Cassidy) concerning calendars, date conversion, encryption, C programming, computational science and other topics (there is even an article in the area of the philosophy of social science).
