Software Forces SPL 2.5 (Smart Pick Lists) for Crystal Enterprise 10 Released

Software Forces enables dynamic values for parameter pick lists with SPL 2.5 (Smart Pick Lists) for Crystal Enterprise 10 and ePortfolio and allows for dynamic look and feel control.

Forest Hills, NY August 17, 2004 -- Software Forces today announced the immediate general availability of SPL 2.5 (Smart Pick Lists). Designed for use with Crystal Enterprise 10, SPL 2.5 brings the same ease of use and performance first introduced for Crystal Enterprise 9, now to the published reports of Crystal Enterprise 10, where values for parameters (pick lists) can now be dynamic, retrieved from a data source. No longer will a report designer need to modify the static pick lists in a report and save it back to Crystal Enterprise. Now also part of SPL 2.5 are six web styles (including 2 wizard styles), which allow you to dynamically change the look and feel of the parameter selection page, per report.

SPL 2.5 integrates with Crystal Enterprise 10 ePortfolio and supports both View-On-Demand and Schedule. SPL 2.5 can also integrate with a custom frontend of your choice using our SmartAPI™ SDK.

"Our customers have asked us for the same power, speed, and ease of use we brought to Crystal Enterprise 9, to be made available for Crystal Enterprise 10. They love the web styles feature, which gives them additional ePortfolio look and feel for dynamic parameters, per report without ever touching a line of code. Yet, for those customers that have their own frontend, feedback on our SmartAPI™ has been great. Further, they are impressed with the performance of the product as compared to internal solutions or competing products,” said Gennady Kleyner, Software Forces product manager.

“Having to constantly update parameter pick lists in Crystal Enterprise is a very daunting task, especially if you have a vast number of reports to manage. SPL 2 offers a very well designed and easy to use solution to this problem. Not only is the tool easy to administer, but it is also easy to integrate with ePortfolio, even if you have customizations. SPL 2 has dramatically helped us to focus on report design and publishing by knowing that we can populate parameter pick lists as needed using SPL.” said Greg Steindl, Minitab Inc.
