The SmartSleep option "Display Black Screen During Countdown" saves the life of your monitor. Music lovers may appreciate another excellent feature. SmartSleep can gradually reduce the speaker volume during countdown. This is a lovely feature for anyone who is listening to music before falling asleep.
Numerous configuration options provide the user with a high level of customization. SmartSleep can force the shutdown, so the computer will be shutdown always, even if unresponsive tasks are running. It's also possible to turn on the shutdown confirmation message window with given timeout to confirm or prevent the scheduled shutdowns. SmartSleep can also launch any application (or execute shell command) with specified parameters and then wait specified time before performing the computer shutdown or reboot.
The SmartSleep can be configured to run minimized at the system startup and automatically start the countdown. The minimizing can be customized too, the utility can be minimized either normally or to the system tray (small icon next to the system clock), so it doesn't consume the taskbar space.
Another feature of scheduling is the option to set a maximal delay to ensure performing of action in extraordinary conditions. For example, if you set maximal delay of 5 seconds, and the shutdown is to be performed at 12:00:00, and by chance at that time your computer freezes for 4 seconds, the action will still be performed. This feature combined with the ability to force shutdown makes SmartSleep a reliable tool to shutdown your computer.
To ensure the shutdown in precise time, the SmartSleep contains an inbuilt accurate atomic clock synchronization feature. You can synchronize your system clock using a chosen time server.
