SYCODE Releases Four New Free RP Plug-ins

24th September, 2008 - SYCODE releases four new free RP plug-ins as part of the OpenRP Initiative.

"Judging by the number of downloads of the free OpenRP software, it would be fair to say that the RP file format is being widely adopted across the RP industry", says Deelip Menezes, Founder and CEO of SYCODE and Founder of the OpenRP Initiative. "Over the past four years, among other things, customers have requested RP plug-ins for CAD systems other than AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Rhinoceros. These four new RP export plug-ins are the result of those requests".

SYCODE has developed RP export plug-ins for Inventor, Solid Edge, SpaceClaim and Alibre Design. Moreover, the existing RP plug-ins have been updated to support newer versions of CAD systems. RP Export for AutoCAD now supports AutoCAD 2000 through to AutoCAD 2009 (32 and 64 Bit). RP Export for SolidWorks works with all versions of SolidWorks from 2001 through to 2008 (32 Bit and 64 Bit). RP Export for Rhino also supports Rhinoceros 4.0. SYCODE reiterates its continued support to the OpenRP Initiative and is currently developing RP plug-ins for other CAD systems.

The free software offered by SYCODE under the OpenRP Initiative is designed to help the RP industry overcome the limitations of the STL file format - large file size and zero security. Using this software CAD software developers can add RP file support to their CAD systems, end users can exchange their designs quickly and securely and service bureaus can accept RP files from end users to quote and build prototypes.

All the software offered under the OpenRP Intiative was, is and always be free of cost. SYCODE also provides free support for all the software it offers under the OpenRP Initiative. "There have been other attempts to solve the problems associated with the STL file format, but all have been made by companies with monopolistic strategies aimed at deriving financial benefit or increasing market share," explains Deelip Menezes, "Some problems need solutions that require time and resources to be spent without getting any financial benefit. Developing , maintaining and offering support for all this software does takes up our time and resources. But we realize that someone's got to do it. And currently we are doing it".
