SMC Sponsors Canada’s First Combined ‘LAN Event’ for Gamers: DreamlanSMC

SMC® Networks (www.smc.com), leading provider of networking solutions for the Enterprise, the SMB and all the way home, today announced its sponsorship of DreamlanSMC, Canada’s first major commercial networked gaming event, to be held January 16-18 just outside Quebec City, Quebec at the futuristic Virtualis Centre on the Expo Sité. In support of the event, SMC has provided the entire network infrastructure for the event – including 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet switches and adapters, wireless Ethernet bridges, and wireless hotspot equipment. SMC representatives will also be on-site to support the event and answer gamers’ questions.

SMC’s portfolio of driverless adapters, designed for use with gaming consoles and other Ethernet-capable devices, such as set-top boxes and printers were the first networking devices introduced by the company focused specifically toward making connecting home entertainment devices easy—and wire-free. The company’s Gigabit switches and adapters anchor the DreamlanSMC network, providing the bandwidth and throughput that gaming and Enterprise networking alike demand. SMC wireless networking equipment connects gamers to the network as in any hotspot venue, such as hotels, convention centers, and airports.

Introduced last fall, SMC’s EZ-Stream line of products took the next leap, with products designed specifically to distribute entertainment media—audio, pictures and streaming video—throughout the home, without wires. The two centerpiece products in the EZ-Stream line; the EZ-Stream Universal Wireless Multimedia Receiver, which can distribute audio, graphics and video efficiently throughout the home; and the EZ-Stream Wireless Audio Adapter, for audio-only applications, are joined by a collection of EZ-Stream routers and adapters that make distributing entertainment throughout the home—without wires—easy.
