SAP Business One version 2007 Implementation highlights for consultant – Alba Spectrum

SAP B1 has all the power of SAP R3 or mySAP muscles behind. Meaning that this small and midsize business ERP is integrated upstream to large scale full featured SAP MRP. If you are multinational corporation or publicly traded company in USA we encourage you to review multiple SBO integration options. If you are just a small or mid-size business, then upscale SAP version has a little value, however SAP brand is important in moving your business toward new horizons, also including the moment where in the future you may decide to sell your business to venture capitalist or small business investor

1. SB1 2007. This is our and unofficial opinion. We believe that SAP will push 2007 version sales in the US and Canada, and all of us, SAP implementation consultants will be prospering to pick up newly sold customers

2. Business One data conversion. SAP B1 has so-called beginning balances transactions, plus if you need integration with legacy data we can deploy SB1 workbench, and it is compatible with MS Excel worksheets

3. Taxation engine. In US and Canada we have different mechanisms: Sales Tax and Value Added Tax respectively. SBO handles both but implementation scenarios will differ

4. New cool features. Customer Vendor consolidation. This feature is also useful in Transportation and Logistics Agent Settlement Report

5. 2005 version. You should not worry if you are on version 2005, however chances are low that you are in US, as 2007 version will be general one for new installations and market penetration mode to the US

6. US Localization. We expect numerous comments here, however what ERP localization is – local country taxation, tax & government reporting, plus providing ERP interface in local language, in the case of US and Canada in English

7. CRM clients. SAP B1 provides discounted named user licenses (roughly at 50% of full named user license cost). CRM users are typically your sales people, who should be able to place orders on behalf of your customers and be able to negotiate on behalf of your company

8. SAP B1 2007 SDK customization development. If you need modifications to standard SB1 logic, here you have SB1 SDK and authorized developers or ISV. Please verify with SAP that suggested software programmer has certification to modify SB1 in your country via SB1 SDK
