SAP Business One B1 customizations recovery and support: SDK programming Alba Spectrum

As this ERP is relatively new on the US market, we expect some percentage of not successful modifications, integration, custom logic design, especially related to SB1 SDK C# or VB programming projects, this is natural effect for software developers coming through learning curve, understanding the best or better way of programming scenarios, things like these. Of course, when we are talking about customizations and their recovery, there is often the question of having source code and the typical answer is that you as the customer do not own the code. We plan this news for executives and not for programmers, so please excuse us for being not technical in this article:
1. SDK overview. SAP Business One Software Development Kit requires developer certification to offer the service to SB1 customers. However as you can imagine this doesn’t secure that the certified developer will not have sort of learning curve syndrome or he or she will have to still come through some stages of getting programming experience on live customers. SB1 SDK has specific recommendations about user login and performance, and if you are discovering SDK on your own you may be getting into slow performance problem

2. Integration Scenarios. In SBO SDK the best is integrating your legacy application or EDI with SB1 objects, such as AR Invoice or Sales Order. Please, note that we are here referring the integration only, not the modification to SB1 user interface. If we are talking about integration, then you can validate your credentials in SDK once and then integrate your legacy application interface in the batch mode, not in real time.

3. Nation-wide support. Here we have to make some assumptions, as SB1 consultants are not available everywhere locally, especially in USA and Canada countryside. After these events you should be comfortable to give us remote access to your server via VPN or remote desktop connection

4. SAP Business One Version 2007. We really believe that this version, versus SB1 2005 will be crucial and SAP will stay behind it for the customers in US

5. SB1 Implementations expectations. We foresee software licenses sale surge in 2008 with the release of version 2007

6. Manufacturing and MRP. Here we would like to emphasize that SAP Business One has famously simple discrete production module

7. SAP BO Installation Overview. Installing the software requires SAP partner to get software licenses and provide installation onsite
