Quatech ThinQ Line of Serial Device Servers Off To a Successful Start With Significant Enhancements Planned for Q3, 2003
Hudson OH June 13 -- Quatech, a world-class manufacturer of reliable serial connectivity solutions, is pleased to announce that significant product enhancements will follow its successful March, 2003 launch of the ThinQ (pronounced think) line of Serial Device Servers. The addition of new models, enhanced network protocol support, and enhanced driver support will further confirm ThinQ as the industrys smart choice in Serial Device Servers.
Quatechs current ThinQ line is comprised of 1,2,4 and 8 port RS-232 serial device servers. The line addresses two longstanding industry problems with serial device serversslow data processing that causes network latency problems, and complex, time consuming installations. With an unprecedented 80 MIPS (Millions of Instruction Per Second) of processing power, ThinQ can hold its own on even the busiest networks. And with Quatechs innovative Installation Wizard, even novice users can get ThinQ up and running quickly and easily (usually in under 10 minutes) without taking up valuable IT staff time.
After just three months in the field, ThinQ is already tremendously successful in the CNC/DNC market because of its industry-leading processing power and resulting low latency. The banking industry has also turned to ThinQ to enable remote monitoring and control of drive-through bank-teller window transactions. Other applications successfully using ThinQ Serial Device Servers include retail POS networks, building automation and access systems, and government security projects.
Quatechs newest addition to the ThinQ line, the SSE-200/300 single-port serial device server, is currently in Beta testing, and is scheduled for release in Q3, 2003. The SSE-200/300 serial port can be configured for either RS-422 or RS-485 communication in either full-duplex or half duplex mode. Like the rest of the ThinQ line, it is based on reliable Motorola® digital dna technology and uses a best-in-class PowerPC® processor. On the serial side, the SSE-200/300 contains Quatech's proven high-speed, 921k-baud serial technology.
Quatech is also providing significant functional upgrades across the entire ThinQ line. SNMP support will be available for all products in Q3, as will Linux driver support. These two feature enhancements will both greatly extend the number of systems in which ThinQ can be employed, and will also provide much greater flexibility in network management of serial devices.
