PrismTech Signs Exclusive Distribution Agreement for Eternal Systems FTORB
Adds Transparent Fault-Tolerant Infrastructure to Total CORBA Solution
DALLAS, TX June 23, 2003 Today at the Object Management Group (OMG) Middleware that Works seminar, PrismTech, a leading vendor of distributed software infrastructure, and Eternal Systems, Inc., provider of high-availability and fault-tolerant software solutions, announced that the two companies have signed an exclusive distribution agreement for Eternal Systems transparent fault tolerance product, FTORB. Under the terms of the agreement PrismTech will exclusively market and support the FTORB product throughout North America and Europe.
For some applications, downtime is simply not an option and even small interruptions of service cannot be tolerated, as application failure could be very costly or catastrophic. In the past, implementing high availability and true fault tolerance has been custom, costly and time consuming, requiring specialized knowledge and programming skills. The FTORB product provides true fault tolerance transparently and is automatic for applications that work in conjunction with standard CORBA middleware. This means that true fault tolerance can now be deployed quickly, easily and at substantially lower cost. This is achieved through a clean separation of the application code from the fault tolerance code, so that application developers can focus on their application programs instead of complicating the applications by including complex fault-tolerance code.
We are very pleased to be adding FTORB to our product line, said Steve Jennis, PrismTechs chief operating officer. Some of our customers require high availability and fault tolerance within their CORBA applications and we are now positioned to deliver a quality solution that satisfies these needs as part of our Total CORBA Solution (TCS). Following on from our recent acquisition of e*ORB, the leading ORB for real-time and embedded applications, this exclusive arrangement for FTORB further differentiates TCS as the most comprehensive, advanced and cost effective solution for CORBA developers.
"We see PrismTech as a true leader in the CORBA space with the exceptional range of their OpenFusion family of products and services, said Bill Hogan, chief executive officer and chairman of the board for Eternal Systems. "As the demand for high-reliability software solutions expands, PrismTech is uniquely positioned to offer powerful one-stop fault tolerant CORBA solutions to the marketplace. We look forward to a long and prosperous business relationship.
