Atlanta, GA June 8, 2004 - Persuasive Games, a leading developer of electronic games for public policy, education, and marketing, announces the relocation of its North American headquarters to Atlanta, Georgia from Newport Beach, California. Additionally, Persuasive Games announces the appointment of Principal Partner, Ian Bogost, to the faculty at Georgia Institute of Technology.
As Persuasive Games continues to grow its relationship with both academia, and leading game researchers, Atlanta offers the perfect balance of access to research, skilled labor, and competitive cost structures. commented Bogost. Persuasive Games continues to forge new ground in designing games that make a difference such as the Dean for Iowa game www.deanforamericagame.com and others currently in production, including a suite of educational games and another political game commissioned for this election cycle.
In conjunction with the companys corporate move to midtown Atlanta, Bogost has been appointed to the faculty of Georgia Institute of Technology, where he will serve as Assistant Professor of Literature, Communication, and Culture. Dr. Bogost will teach in the new Ph.D. program in Information Design and Technology (IDT), where he plans to focus on videogame design and rhetoric.
We're particularly delighted that Ian Bogost will be teaching in the Digital Media and Information Design program in LCC, and contributing to our very active research program in digital gaming, commented Janet Murray, Professor and Director of Graduate Studies for the IDT program. Ian is one of the most insightful and creative theorist/practitioners of his generation and we know that the support and stimulation of the Georgia Tech community and the Atlanta media and arts scene will provide a very nourishing environment for his work.
