New SecureCRT 6.5 and SecureFX 6.5 releases from VanDyke Software deliver redesigned user interfaces for greater productivity

Albuquerque, N.M. (December 10, 2009) — VanDyke Software®, a developer of Secure Shell solutions that balance strong security with ease of use, today announced the official releases of SecureCRT® 6.5 and SecureFX® 6.5. Both releases focus on increasing productivity and usability with new UI improvements and streamlined processes.

“VanDyke Software's applications are already known for their rock-solid reliability and feature rich options. In this release we focused on giving users an updated interface, as well as on improving core functionality,” said Maureen Jett, VanDyke Software's Product Director. “We've also emphasized compatibility for Windows 7 customers, like support for program previews and pinned icons on the taskbar.”

User interface updates in SecureFX 6.5 include a new tabbed main window with several layout options for keeping sessions organized. “I love the new interface,” said Andy Shellam, a SecureFX beta tester. “It ‘feels' so much better and much more natural in today's multi-tasking environment.” Other SecureFX updates include SCP support and a parent folder icon for smoother navigation.

The SecureCRT 6.5 interface is also improved with new tab status indicator options, a new button bar, and real-time keyword highlighting. Bill Braughton, a network engineer and SecureCRT user said, “I really like the visual upgrades. I always appreciate a good facelift on one of my all-time favorite apps.” Drag-and-drop file transfers in this latest release also help customers save time. “[The ASCII drag-and-drop feature] is just beautiful,” said Richard Sugg a SecureCRT user at Nortel Networks. “I have a lot of customer machines that I login to and run scripts… Being able to drag a text file to a session, whether to execute it directly or put in vi, is a real convenience.”

Both SecureCRT 6.5 and SecureFX 6.5 provide new UI themes for a more contemporary look and feel, with native support for Amazon EC2 authentication.
