NCS announces world’s smallest Linux, Windows and BSD compatible set-top server appliance platforms

NCS Technologies Inc, a leading developer of servers, PCs, notebooks and appliances, today announced the release of 2 new cost-effective rack mountable set-top appliance platforms.

Manassas, VA (March 5, 2003) – NCS Technologies Inc, a leading developer of servers, PC, notebooks and appliances, today announced the release of 2 new cost-effective rack mountable set-top appliance platforms. Designed in 1U and 2U rack mount form-factors, the 2 new products will add to the existing suite of NCS’ Functional Reference Platforms (FRP) aimed at providing as quick test platforms for ISVs to test their application software for performance.

These products are suited for a wide variety of applications such as web hosting, mail filtering etc and can act as perfect network security devices such as firewalls or VPNs. Each of these appliances can be custom configured to meet the exact performance and branding needs of our ISV partners.”

NCSAPP 100-P is a rack mountable 1U set-top that can be configured with fast Intel Pentium 4 processor supporting speeds up to 2.8GHz. The 100-P features include a very small footprint (only 12” deep), can support 2GB of fast DDR memory, 20GB or higher capacity EIDE hard drive, up to four network interfaces (100Mb and Gigabit), optional LCD display, and etc. Pricing starts from $600; and the product is available immediately.

NCSAPP 200-P is world’s smallest rack mountable 2U set-top (only 12” deep) that can be configured with: fast ‘Intel’ Pentium 4 processor supporting speeds up to 3.06 GHz, fast DDR memory up to 2GB, two 20GB or higher capacity EIDE drives, LCD display, and etc. The hard drives can be configured as RAID drives to provide higher redundancy. The 200-P also comes with 2 free PCI slots to add network interfaces (100Mb and Gigabit) or any other add-on card functionality required for an appliance. Pricing starts from $600; and the product is available immediately.

Both 100-P and 200-P can run BSD, Linux or Windows operating systems and can be completely customized to develop a final appliance product for ISVs.
