Research and Markets have announced the addition of the ‘European enterprise technology; Combining technologies, finding the balance…’ report to their offering.

December 5 2003--The technology vendor community is, at first glance, a highly fragmented market. Future success, however, depends on increasing unison between what were until recently seen as separate disciplines (including enterprise applications, mobility, integration, portals and web services). As companies look to combine technologies, vendors must be aware of the way in which this market is likely to develop.

Scope

This report involved a major end-user survey comprised of 200 Large (1,000+ employees or revenue >$500m) European enterprises

The interviewees were typically C-Level execs, CIOs, IT managers and LOB managers

It covered 7 European geographies: Benelux, France, Germany, Italy, Scandinavia, Spain, UK

Covers 10 vertical industries: Automotive, CG & retail, comms/telecoms, FS, manufacturing, public sector, services, travel/transportation, utilities, other

Report Highlights

Most companies interviewed in this survey feel that their IT supports and enables their business processes. The focus is therefore on optimizing what is already in place. As such, companies are looking to solve particular business pain points and tactical initiatives focused around integration and web services projects are dominating.

Although many still disparage Microsoft’s pedigree in the enterprise IT market, the company’s concerted efforts to penetrate this space appear to be paying off. The traditional heavyweights should be increasingly vigilant to the threat that Microsoft presents.

This report is useful as:

IT vendors can learn what projects and initiatives end-users are planning over the next 18 months, and which vendors they are planning to approach.

The study provides feedback and analysis of end-user understanding, enabling vendors to keep pace with the market and focus on the areas that matter.

The survey results allow vendors to discover and understand the burning issues currently facing end-users and enables them to plan accordingly.
