Marval and Sussex HIS win HDI Best Business Use of Support Technology Award 2007

Marval and Sussex Health Informatics Service (HIS) received major honours at the 2007 Help Desk & IT Excellence Awards, by winning the ‘Best Business Use of Support Technology’ category.

This unique award is presented to the vendor or consulting group and their customer who are able to demonstrate the most effective business improvement achieved, using their company’s products and services within a customer’s installation. Emphasis is placed on how service delivery has positively impacted on line-of-business operations within the organisation.

Although pitted against some strong competition, the stand out entry selected by the awards committee this year was The Sussex HIS “Super Service Desk” project.

The Sussex HIS project has brought together totally disparate IT support operations, local service desks and locations (each having their own separate culture, approach, support tools and processes) under a single, integrated service management framework. Based on industry best practice and standards and using a single ITSM tool – Marval Service Management (MSM) software, the organisation has been able to provide underpinning, cost effective and efficient IT services to support patient care within the Sussex NHS.

The project has delivered genuine and rapid improvement in the customer experience, increased IT infrastructure and service reliability.
