Latest data on ERP, CRM, IT and telecom among large and medium-sized companies in Poland
Key findings include
- 53% of Polish firms in the survey employing 250+ people use ERP-class software. This corresponds to around 1,450 companies, although the figure refers only to the population surveyed by PMR (250+ people).
- SAP is market leader with 18% market share (counted as a % of operational ERP systems). In a major new study of the ERP market, published in March 2004, based on PMR's own survey of top management in the large and medium-sized enterprises in Poland, PMR found that the market shares of ERP (software for running enterprises) differs widely from global norms. Local players like BPCS come ahead of QAD, Oracle and other global giants.
- Oracle and IFS have 2% and 4% share of the ERP market respectively (with respect to the total number of ERP implementations).
- 25% of large enterprises in Poland plan to implement at least one ERP module in 2004.
-There will be about 200 new ERP implementations in 2004, of which 170-180 will be outsourced.
- Greenfield sites are more important that upgrades
- Accounting and financial ERP modules are the most popular.
- There are 140 PC/workstations in average "large" Polish enterprise
- Polish large companies buy 140,000-150,000 workstations/PCs a year. Companies employing 250+ people have a total of 550,000-600,000 computer workstations (including desktop computers, laptops and network terminals).
- Oracle databases dominate the Polish large company ERP market, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2 and Informix also doing well.
- Poland's payroll and HR software market dominated by local players due to complex and frequently changing regulation.
- The report found that only 8% of Polish businesses employing 250 or more people (i.e. around 230 firms) at present possess CRM-class systems.
- 10% of large enterprises in Poland are using VOIP solutions for long distance and international phone calls
- 21% of large companies in Poland surveyed have wireless local area networks
The report is based on a survey conducted by PMR Research (www.pmrresearchservices.com) the department of PMR Ltd. specialising in market research and preparing market analyses. The survey was carried out in December 2003 to January 2004 on a random, representative sample of 455 companies employing 250 or more people in Poland. The respondents were in most part senior IT managers and IT engineers.
