Improved data security and business continuity provided by low-budget desktop RAID system

Lapis Solutions today launched StorPac SP40, a desktop RAID system that offers users total data security through advanced RAID technology at a fraction of the cost of previous systems.

May 4, 2004--This four-bay, “plug and go” RAID bundle features combined Firewire and USB2 host connections and includes drives, as well as onsite maintenance and backup software. It is available in capacities of 480GB and one Terabyte to provide a simple 'all-in-the-box' solution.

The SP40 system offers a fast alternative to tape backup at a comparable price. The 480Gigabyte version retails at £2190 and the one Terabyte version is just £2986.

“RAID Protected disk storage has been around for as long as PCs, but the cost has been prohibitive. Until now, this has only been available to those with deep pockets.” said Tony Howard, managing director of Lapis Solutions. “StorPac offers total data security through advanced RAID technology, at a fraction of the cost of previous systems. It will appeal strongly to business users who do not want to wait hours for missing files to be replaced, when they can get them back in minutes or even seconds.

“Today, more data is being stored on computers than ever before. We store accounting information, critical data files and e-mails. Our enormous dependence on this data means that losing it all can be disastrous. Even losing it for a few hours or days, whilst it is restored from tape backup, can be very costly.”

For added peace of mind, one year’s on-site maintenance is provided with all systems free of charge, subject to distance from the service centre. For more information please visit the dedicated website at www.storpac.com
