HelpSmith 3.0: Utmost Simplicity and Great Efficiency Combined in an Excellent Help Authoring Tool
Divcom Software announces the release of HelpSmith 3.0, a new version of help authoring tool for developers and tech writers. This WYSIWYG tool is remarkable for its simplicity, but at the same time it supports numerous useful features. HelpSmith enables tech writers to create CHM HTML Help files, Web Help, Printed Manuals and PDF documents using the same source project. It should be pointed out that it does not take much time to master HelpSmith - even a complete beginner can start working with this tool without delving into technical details.
HelpSmith is an outright gift for those who are tired of complicated help authoring solutions, as it is an advantageous combination of necessary features and easy-to-use interface. The built-in Unicode word processor offers a wide field for editing the content like in MS Word: various dynamic styles, templates, system and user variables, live spell checker and the ability to add graphics (e.g. corporate logos) and video files are sure to facilitate tech writers' work. Easy navigation can be ensured by creating a table of contents and keyword index.
HelpSmith is really simple. It tackles all technical aspects, whereas the writer can concentrate on the main thing and click on HelpSmith buttons. For instance, to add a non-scrolling area it is enough to click a corresponding button on HelpSmith toolbar. (Using other help authoring solutions, a tech writer would have to edit an HTML-template himself or to put up with the absence of non-scrolling area at worst). Similarly, a few mouse clicks can organize the content into the tree-type structure.
