kalmstrom.com Business Solutions has released a major update of the popular helpdesk solution that combines Microsoft Outlook and SharePoint or Office Live. Version 2.0 has a much awaited function for e-mail threading.

HelpDesk OSP has three parts: an Outlook add-on that is installed on every helpdesk worker’s client machine, a report generator and any SharePoint or Office Live template you wish to use. E-mails are manually or automatically converted into list items ‒ tickets ‒ at the SharePoint/Office Live site. With version 2 of HelpDesk OSP the new part of all e-mails concerning the same case can be added to the first ticket, where they are saved chronologically and easily can be reviewed by the helpdesk staff.

A Settings form in Outlook handles the connection between Outlook and SharePoint/Office Live, and the admin configures it for all subsequent users. The other users just have to select the list(s). The login details to the SharePoint site can be saved, and the password is encrypted for best security.

When HelpDesk OSP have been used for a while performance can be studied in the powerful integrated statistics tool. That way the application also facilitates business intelligence.
