Halcyon Software announces release of Snapshot TSC v10.6

Halcyon Software announced the first new release of the Snapshot technology since acquiring the software in May this year from Mid-Comp International Pty Ltd.

Snapshot TSC is a well known name in the IBM i (iSeries) community, as a specialist performance utility. The software notifies IT administrators if there are performance problems or application issues that could adversely affect the performance of IBM i servers and seriously impact critical business operations.

The Snapshot customer base has an international spread and is supported in Europe, US and Asia Pac.

Halcyon specialises in multi-platform systems management solutions which support IBM mid-range systems, including IBM i, AIX as well as Windows, UNIX and Linux platforms.

Snapshot TSC v10.6 has major enhancements to ensure compatibility with IBM i 6.1 and 7.1 and minor bug fixes from previously reported issues.

Donnie MacColl, Director of Technical Services at Halcyon comments, “Our primary objective for our first release was to make sure the software would run on the latest IBM hardware and operating systems and fix any minor bugs. We also want to demonstrate to Snapshot TSC customers that Halcyon is totally committed to releasing new versions of the software and will continue to invest in developing this technology”.

Customers comment on how easy it is to configure and the simplicity of using the tool to extract the data they really need. Halcyon Software has already planned 5 major enhancements for the next version of Snapshot TSC planned for release in Q1 2011.

These include enhancements for remote response location with automatic dynamic statistic gathering, disk collection, automatic restart of the Snapshot TSC performance collection facility, a refresh of the capacity simulator database and improvements in the library statistics function to ease modelling.
