Dynamics GP or Great Plains Sales Order Entry

Microsoft Dynamics GP or Great Plains has a Sales Order Entry in the Sales module that is very useful for businesses that sell products or items to the customers. You can enter documents like quotes, orders, invoices, fulfillment orders, and returns with the Sales Order Entry, and then post the invoices and returns to history for payments and records.

First, the Sales Processing Setup needs to be filled in to define the way the documents are entered and flow. Once that is done, you can select to automatically increment the document number or enter a new number for a document. Also, you will select a customer for the document, for example you can create a quote for a customer and then transfer it to an order or invoice to send it.

There are dates for the document dates like quote date, quote expiration date, order date, invoice date, back order date, return date, requested ship date, actual ship date for you to keep record of the documents. You can also optionally enter the currency id if your company works with international or multi-currencies businesses. Items in the line item section are used for entering customer ordered items, it has quantities like quantity ordered, quantity invoiced, quantity returned and many other types of quantities. Unit cost and unit price can be linked to the Inventory cost and price list for very flexible price structure. If there are warehouses to store the inventory, you can also setup up the sites for the items.

There are many features and flexibilities with GP Sales Order Entry and it can be integrated with other entries like Purchasing Order Entry of the Purchasing module. GP Sales module can be tightly integrated with other GP modules like Purchasing, Inventory, General Ledger, and other modules. It makes keeping record of orders, invoices, returns for your customers very efficiently.

All Great Plains or Dynamics GP windows and reports are ready to customize, you can use modifiers to change the appearances or values.
