Crystal Desktop Virtual Desktop Manager Updated to 3.7

Virtual desktop managers have become popular on most operating systems, for users who want to keep multiple projects open at once (or perhaps hide one set of windows from their boss). Crystal Desktop allows grouping open applications as convenient for the user: one desktop can hold web browser windows, another desktop a Photoshop project, and another one a movie. Users switch between the desktops with a mouse click or keystroke (customizable for each desktop).

To make each desktop unique, Crystal Desktop allows setting custom labels, background images and even screen resolutions for each desktop. Rules can be applied to desktops for keeping certain applications open in all windows (such as IM clients), and an exception list allows fine-tuning window display as well. To move windows, users need only to drag and drop, as in Linux/KDE. A unique feature is password protection for desktops, limiting access to some of the virtual displays.

No command line configuration is necessary for Crystal Desktop: the program has a clear point-and-click interface. Crystal Desktop is completely compatible with Windows 7, and according to the developer, runs well even on modest systems thanks to its judicious use of dazzling effects.
