Textanz calculates frequencies of words and phrases in text and displays results in convenient customizable form.
Various options allows to limit the search by number of words in phrase (or number of characters in word), set minimal frequency, case sensitivity, sort result rows by any column.
Following are few examples, when information about word and phrase frequencies becomes valuable :
1) Checking your document for unnecessary repetitions and "words-parasites". Extremely important in business :
specifications, agreements, proposals, reports, CV and application letters, when very first and intuitive reader's impression
may predestine the decision. And, good test for informal messages as well.
2) Analyzing someone's text : find out his/her favorite words and constructions, examine writing style - a way to know more
about the personality of authors.
3) Finding cross-quoting in two texts : attach first text to second, load the result into Textanz and calculate.
4) Programmers : search for repeatable code fragments. Textanz will ignore spaces, tabs, linefeeds, but catch sequences of
identifiers and commands.
5) Web-masters : measure word density in html page and choose keywords for META-tags.
6) Words frequencies is important factor in linguistics research . Textanz has an option to search for word parts of given length.
So it is possible to consider same-root words as equal.
