A single application for compressing and extracting all major archive formats

Ankara, TURKEY, February 23, 2005 - MimarSinan International has released CompreXX mark4 for Windows; software for end-users and organizations working with compressed files.

CompreXX mark4 is the only product available today with built-in support for all major archive types. Users no longer need to install separate programs to work with diverse formats such as ZIP, RAR, ACE, and SIT. CompreXX mark4 is capable of compressing and extracting each of those archives, among many others. CompreXX mark4 does so without requiring any external software, all from within the same application.

CompreXX mark3 has a unique feature called "Archive Folders". With Archive Folders, compressed files of any type appear as regular folders to Windows. Double-clicking an archive does not launch a stand-alone archive utility, instead Explorer just browses inside the archive as if it were a regular folder. The user can drag/drop, copy/paste, or employ any other Explorer habits to transparently compress/extract files. Double-clicking an item inside an Archive Folder opens it, and the "Archive Tasks" pane conveniently lists additional archive actions, such as an Anti-Virus scan.

While Windows XP users may already be familiar with the similar ZIP folders concept, CompreXX mark3 provides Archive Folders for all versions of Windows - Windows 95 through Server 2003. In addition, CompreXX mark3 provides Archive Folders functionality for over 48 archive types, and not only ZIP. This wide range of support is made possible by the plug-in architecture that powers CompreXX. As new compression formats become available, CompreXX can be seamlessly upgraded to work together with them, without having to install new archive management applications. All that needs to be done is to install the new plug-ins.
