Collabnet Enterprise Edition 4.0 Launched, Extends Collabnet Value to Application Lifecycle Management
Product Incorporates Application Lifecycle Management Features and Third-Party Tool Integrations to Enable Codified yet Flexible Process Support for Distributed Software Development
BRISBANE, Calif., September 12, 2005 - CollabNet, the leading provider of on-demand (SaaS) distributed software development solutions, today launched the next generation of the companys flagship software development platform, CollabNet® Enterprise Edition 4.0. The new version features the CollabNet Application Lifecycle Manager, a codified yet flexible set of process templates containing content, artifacts, and tools that guide project members through the application lifecycle to help organizations overcome their distributed software development challenges.
The CollabNet Application Lifecycle Manager helps corporations create a sustainable advantage in a new era in which applications are developed by decentralized teams collaborating over the Internet. CollabNet Application Lifecycle Manager builds upon the process knowledge gained from CollabNets six years of industry-leading experience helping 500,000 software developers worldwide build applications in a distributed manner.
The CollabNet Application Lifecycle Manager in CollabNet Enterprise Edition 4.0 enables project managers to select and customize a choice of pre-configured process templates. These selectable process templates range from the CollabNet-supplied Baseline Process Template to client-generated templates to CollabNet partner-supplied templates and address a broad range of software development styles and business processes. The CollabNet Baseline Process Template is a selectable no-cost option that can be utilized on a project-by-project basis or can be enforced company-wide to drive adherence to specific processes. The CollabNet Baseline Process Template and user-defined process templates can be easily followed by everyone working on a project, including CIOs, executives, product managers, architects, developers, QA, operational and support personnel, as well as outside partners.

CollabNet also announced two new CollabNet Connectors included as part of version 4.0 that open the CollabNet platform to other best-of-breed tools, such as Mercury TestDirector for QA and CruiseControl for rapid build iterations. These downloadable packages enable CollabNet users to work in concert with other development applications and personnel anywhere on the planet and seamlessly share information. The CollabNet Connector to Mercury TestDirector allows QA teams to work in the TestDirector environment, while allowing developers to work in the CollabNet environment. Defects entered in TestDirector are automatically added to the CollabNet environment. The CollabNet Connector Suite to Mercury TestDirector also enables users to utilize CollabNet as the central versioning repository for critical release-dependent testing assets, such as test plans, that can be put under version control along with accompanying development assets.
The CollabNet Connector to CruiseControl enables CollabNet users to easily access up-to-the-minute CruiseControl build results which have been transferred from a remote server to CollabNet without the need to login separately to external CruiseControl systems. The two new connectors join a series of CollabNet Connectors that span each of the common phases of the application development lifecycle including the CollabNet Connector to IBM Rational ClearCase and the CollabNet Connectors to various IDEs such as Eclipse, Oracle9i JDeveloper, Sun NetBeans, Sun SunONE Studio, and Borland JBuilder among others.
CollabNet Enterprise Edition 4.0 also includes a broad array of improvements across all of the distributed development application modules in CollabNet Enterprise Edition, including several key features driven by the CollabNet-sponsored Subversion open source community.
