CityNet West Introduces High-Speed Wireless Mesh Technology to the City of Anaheim
Anaheim, CA August 23, 2004 - CityNet West, Inc. announced the city's first wireless mesh network, providing their clients with high-speed wireless Internet access. CityNet West uses Wi-Fi technology that allows Internet access from a PC, laptop computer or PDA via HotZones. CityNet Wests service combines the freedom of a wireless network with speeds equal to or faster than DSL or cable. Any Business or Residence in the HotZone can now enjoy immediate high-speed Internet Access. This technology has been running since Nov. 2002 and has just been made available to the city of Anaheim.
Using unique air mesh routers CityNet West builds HotZones that give mobile users the ability connect to the Internet or office network without having to locate a phone jack or tolerate a slow connection. To access CityNet West's network of HotZones, all users need is a PC, laptop, or PDA with an 802.11 wireless network card (commonly called Wi-Fi Cards). These cards are readily available from your local computer stores and outlets at a minimal cost.
Downtown Anaheim is now one of CityNet Wests HotZones, with many more locations to come in the near future including Los Angeles and Long Beach. In association with CityNet in Florida, who currently provides service to thousands of customers in 42 cities, CityNet West looks forward to expanding their service throughout the west coast and the nation.
