Brush Up This Summer; Largest Free Software Project Management Course On-line
Bas de Baar has put his entire textbook about software project management on-line at his website (http://www.SoftwareProjects.org), making it the largest free internet course on software project management.
Zandvoort, The Netherlands August 6, 2004 - This summer may be a good time to brush up your project management skills; business may be a little slower, and, from a positive perspective, Bas de Baar puts his entire textbook on software project management on-line, for free.
Bas de Baar is the author of The Microwave Way To Software Project Management. He started writing the book as his personal vendetta against all mornings waking up with trouble about a project five years ago. This summer he decided to put the entire text on-line at his website (http://www.SoftwareProjects.org), making it the largest free internet course on software project management.
The author takes you on an entertaining and essential tour through the jungle software project managers can and will walk in to. The ride starts at the mindset of the project manager; he should have one simple mental image on the jobs he has to perform, instead of trying to stuff 500 pages of charting and calculating in his head.
For a lot of readers one conclusion still comes as a big surprise: doing projects is a peoples business. Its all about keeping everyone involved in the project happy by supporting their stakes. The trouble with stakes is, no one tells you what they are. You have to guess, negotiate, anticipate and manipulate to get passed the requirements directly through the fears and wishes of people. Software project management is more about psychology than technology.
