Bricolsoft Zip Provides Developers with New Data Compression Capabilities

NEW YORK, NY - September 25, 2009 - Bricolsoft today released Bricolsoft Zip 2009 R2, a major update to its flagship zip compression library. The new version adds advanced functionality such as WinZip AES encryption, ZIP64 large file support and multipart archive support. Fully functional trial versions of the product are available for download at bricolsoft.com.

All the technologies introduced today are available in WinZip and PKZIP, the most popular data compression utilities and the de facto standards for zip compression. Support for these features is an important factor in an application's success. Our data compression library lets developers integrate these capabilities into their software quickly and easily.

The new features provide significant benefits over previous options. AES encryption with 128, 192 and 256 bit strength is one of the strongest encryption standards available today and constitutes a major upgrade over traditional ZIP encryption. While traditional ZIP encryption can easily be compromised, AES encryption remains unbreakable.

ZIP64 large file support makes it possible to create zip archives that exceed 4 GB in size and to compress data files that are larger than 4 GB. With ZIP64, zip archives are no longer limited to slightly more than 65,500 files and can now store a virtually unlimited number of files.

Multipart archives offer a convenient way to split large archives into multiple parts that fit on removable disks. Bricolsoft Zip allows developers to specify custom split sizes and supports both regular multipart archives and self-extracting multipart archives, for ultimate compatibility.
