ApriorIT releases AutomateIT!, an open-source solution called to automate integration of OpenOffice with office software

ApriorIT Inc., a provider of offshore system software development services, has solved the problem of automating the integration of OpenOffice with software which exports reports or other data to Microsoft Office; the product is available to the Open Source community.

Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine -- May 26, 2005 -- ApriorIT announced the release of 0.5 alpha version of AutomateIT!, an open-source solution called to meet budgetary and business needs of primarily small and mid-sized companies. After AutomateIT! installation office automation software that export data to Microsoft Office will be exporting them to OpenOffice instead, all this without any changes to the existing applications. This fact gives companies an opportunity to reduce office automation costs and serves as an additional argument for switching to OpenOffice and exploring its features.

The product has limited functionality, but, as CEO of ApriorIT, Dennis Turpitka, said, "We solved the most complex tasks, including feasibility analysis and implementing the support for certain MS Office functions and objects. We understand the potential benefit of AutomateIT! and therefore decided to make it available to the Open Source community."

The solution has been released under GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) and this gives the developers and system integrators additional advantages in comparison with GPL, including even the right to not disclose the complete source code of their non-free products that will be using AutomateIT! as part of them.

AutomateIT! supports MS Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP and tested successfully on OpenOffice 1.*.
