An Alternative to Remote Access Software

In many cases, when using a remote access software, no access to a remote PC is really needed or explicitly not required. On the contrary to remote maintenance, online presentations and online trainings require often the online transmission of the screen content only. If the windows desktop should be shown to one or more remote dialog partners there is a cost-effective and clever alternative available.

The software "Online Desktop Presenter", developed by INFONAUTICS GmbH, allows an easy presentation of the screen content via Internet. Once the software has been started, the screen content will be transmitted automatically and continuously to the own Web-Server or any free webspace via FTP. Big advantage of this application: no software installation is needed at the remote viewer's side and no problems regarding firewall or any other security related installations will arise. The remote Internet user can follow the presentation with a common Internet browser.

Online Desktop Presenter enables the presentator to show his Windows desktop simultaneously to several persons. During presentations, trainings and sales talks the remote dialog partners such as customers, partners, colleagues and co-workers can follow the desktop presentation system-independent (Windows, Mac and Linux) by entering the provided Internet address into their Internet browser.

On the persentator's side, only Internet and FTP access to a subdirectory of a web server is required for the online presentation. No further installation on the web server is needed but solely 300 KB free webspace in a subdirectory. When working with an Apache web server, the access to the online presentation can additionally be protected by a password. At the end of the online session, the content of the presentation can automatically be deleted on the web server and the viewer can be directed to any other web address.

Online Desktop Presenter 1.7 runs under Windows 98/2000/XP/Vista. The software is distributed as shareware and can be thoroughly tested before purchase. Free download is available at the product's website.
