Fremont, CA & Staines, UK June 4th, 2003 -- ActivCard (NASDAQ: ACTI/NASDAQ Europe: ACTI), the leader in IDentity Management (IDM) software, today announced ActivPack 2.0 for Novell eDirectory, offering token and smart card-based secure digital identity services for Novell Nsure secure identity management solutions. This new version of ActivPack provides the integrated multi-factor authentication sought by IT managers, security officers, and system administrators responsible for validating that users are who they say they are for:
Secure local login to Novell eDirectory that replaces static passwords with secure One Time Passwords or digital certificates
Strengthened authentication for VPN remote access via Novell
BorderManager
Secure web access through Novell iChain
The ActivCard solution supports a variety of authentication methods, and customers can deploy with a combination of tokens, USB keys, or smart cards to meet the unique requirements of the user base.

Consolidated Administration Within Novell ConsoleOne
Embedded in Novell ConsoleOne, ActivPack leverages the central management capabilities of eDirectory to assign and associate users to tokens and smart cards and to manage tasks such as initialising tokens, resynchronising, importing and storing user credentials and data. ActivPack operates upon Novell's foundation of a single point of administration for the day-to-day demands of managing users, desktops, network security and applications. The ActivCard solution enables organisations to administer users and their rights centrally without requiring modification of existing corporate directory infrastructure, eliminating costly dual administration of user credentials.
