A new price trending model covering the forthcoming 5-year period (2004 to 2008) for IP/MPLS and Ethernet VLAN services

March 27, 2004--This reports presents a price trending model covering the forthcoming 5-year period (2004 to 2008) for IP/MPLS and Ethernet VLAN services. Factors that are likely to impact future pricing trends are analysed and given a confidence rating.

The model covers commonly utilised bandwidth measures (from 2 Mbps to 45 Mbps) for IP/MPLS and
(from 2 Mbps to 1 Gbps) for Ethernet VLAN services.

IP/MPLS access zones are based on currently utilised distance bands:

Inner Metro Access Pricing: Up to 25 Km;
Outer Metro Access Pricing: 25 to 50 Km;
Regional Access Pricing: Up to 12 Km;
Regional Access Pricing: 12 to 165 Km;
Regional Access Pricing: 165 to 500 Km;
Regional Access Pricing: 500 to 745 Km; and
Regional Access Pricing: Greater than
745 Km.

Standard Class of Service for IP/MPLS any-to-any transmission is used for illustration purposes, but commentary is also provided on Class of Service premium charges.

The report covers two Distance Bands (CBD and Business Zone locations) for Ethernet VLAN (Virtual LAN) point-to-multipoint metropolitan services.

The forecasted prices are expressed as:

Industry Low;
Industry Median;
Industry
Average (arithmetic Mean of the sample values);
Industry Trim Mean (excluding the
top and bottom 10% of industry samples); and
Industry High prices.
