5 cash prize Xbox Live Leagues announced by Team Compete ---Team CompeteTM announces $25,000 Halo2 Pro League for Xbox Live teams

64 team league to launch 2 weeks after Halo2 hits the stores in November. Team Compete Professional League (TCPL) provides private league competition and challenging tournament and team management tools for member teams. To promote the league features and powerful capabilities, Team Compete is sponsoring the largest known Halo2 gaming league on the Internet. 16 teams will advance to the playoff round and will each share in the prize pool payouts. Unlike one-time tournaments or open ladder seasons, the TCPL is centered on league play in 2-3 month leagues with regularly scheduled play dates and known competition. Open exclusively to members and teams of the Team Compete Professional League (TCPL), the Halo2 Prize League is designed to spark interest in Team Compete and the professional gaming community that competes on the site. Teams will be required to have a minimum number of TCPL members on their roster to qualify for entry into the league, and teams are actively recruiting new members currently. There is no entry fee for the teams and the prize pool will be provided by Team Compete. A sponsor prize pool is also being solicited and will likely be offered as well, although not guaranteed. Play starts on or about 23 November allowing teams two weeks to tune up after the game launches. The TCPL is currently open to new members and teams can be created immediately.

Houston, TX October 7, 2004 -- In keeping with their reputation for innovation and expanding the horizons of Xbox gaming and competition, Team Compete today announced the largest known Halo2 prize incentive for Xbox live competitive play. A $25,000 cash prize purse for a 64 team league was announced to the membership today. Competition will take place using the newly launched Team Compete Professional League (TCPL) system and will run for a 12 week season culminating in a 16 team playoff round to determine prize distributions. All teams that make the playoff will be guaranteed a share in the $25,000 League pay out. Specific League rules and terms of participation are forthcoming and will be posted on the Team Compete web site.

Other Pro League Cash Promotions: In addition to the Halo2 play which begins in November, Team Compete announced four (4) other Leagues designed to get players active in the TCPL immediately and to increase their understanding of the power and features contained in the TCPL Pro League service. Each mini-league will run for 5 weeks and offer a $1,000 cash prize pool for the to 25% of the finishers to spur interest and encourage participation. These leagues will support Ubisoft’s Black Arrow and GRIT games, the most played games in the popular Tom Clancy series of first person shooter games from Ubisoft. There is no entry fee for these leagues which are open to all TCPL registered members.

These leagues are specifically structured as promotional incentives to spur creation of new Black Arrow and Ghost Recon teams in early October and to give the TCPL members hands on experience with the new TCPL software officially launched in late September.

International Support at Launch: One of the leagues will be a Black Arrow League for UK/European gamers enabling them to play in their own time zones and under any specific rule sets that best meet their local needs. Coordination of the TCEurope Leagues will be handled by the TC Admin and staff based in the UK with more specific league details announced in the next week.

“There’s no hidden agenda here”, said the Veeg, founder of Team Compete. “We’re putting our money where our mouth is to promote the TCPL league system to our members and to generate a little buzz in the community. This is something entirely new and never before attempted and we need to help users understand the capabilities in any way we can. Getting them hands on with the league system is the best way we can facilitate their learning” These kick off leagues, and all leagues in the TCPL will promote fair play and sportsmanship and serve as a shakedown cruise for the new TCPL software system recently launched by Team Compete. He continued by saying, “We feel that by getting the players USING the system and all its features early and intensely, we have the best chance of them truly grasping the overwhelming power and capability that has been created for them. And what better incentive than money these days?”

“We’ve announced a combined cash prize package of over $32,000 for both the Pro League and the Halo2 Open League competitions at Team Compete. No other site is even looking at this scale of player benefits….which has been one of our founding principles and one we will continue to enhance as we grow as well”, said VanGelder.

The leagues are open to all registered TCPL members and teams. Between October 1 and 13, teams can enter the leagues which will fill on a first serve basis. Competitive play between October 15 and November 15 will culminate in the playoffs crowning a winner the weekend before Thanksgiving.
